Augusta, GA---Mr. Cecil Auvergne D’Antignac, Sr., 88, entered into rest on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at University Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 12:15 pm, at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Michael Lubinsky as celebrant. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. D’Antignac was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, presently residing at St. John Towers, was a member of the Augusta Elks Lodge #205, was veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn S. D’Antignac, son, Robert W. “Bobby” D’Antignac, daughter, Kathryn D. Schleenbaker, parents, William M. and Lois Ferre D’Antignac, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his sons, William M. D’Antignac and wife, Judy, of Jacksonville, FL, Cecil A. D’Antignac, Jr. and wife, Dawn, of Acworth, GA, daughters, Martha D. Moore and husband, Gordon, of Camden, SC, Iree D. Poitra and husband, Henry, of Augusta, Marie D. Smith and husband, Toxey, of Martinez, son in law, Rick Schleenbaker, of Augusta, daughter in law, Kathy T. D’Antignac, of Martinez, fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A vigil for the deceased will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 6:00 pm, in the Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel, with Father Michael Lubinsky officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, following the vigil, until 8:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Leon Tracy, Christopher Lee House, William Michael D’Antignac, Jr., Dennis Alan Boyd, Wesley Preston Moore and Russell T. Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made, to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, 811 Telfair Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
