Cecelia Jackson Givens

Cecelia Jackson Givens, 68, beloved wife of Mark Givens, entered into rest on April 18, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Mike Ingram officiating. Interment to follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Cecelia spent most of her career as a Medical Technologist in the cardiology field. She was always able to make her patients feel comfortable with her smile and upbeat personality. She loved spending time with her friends and family and had a special place in her heart for her three grandchildren. She was a tremendous listener with an empathy for anyone who needed someone to talk with. She was the consummate "glass half full" person, with an infectious optimism that always seemed to lift people up.

Cecelia had many hobbies including traveling with her husband Mark, gardening, reading, and music. She was a member of St. Mary On the Hill Church in Augusta GA.

In addition to her husband, Cecelia is survived by her daughter, Amy Katheryn Sowell (Richard); her brothers, Bruce Anthony Jackson (Becky) and Mark Joseph Jackson (Fredda); her sister, Laura Jackson Phifer (James); her grandchildren, Jeffrey Eric Clubb, III, Steven Lawson Clubb and Olivia Rose Sowell; and by her son-in-law, Jeffrey Eric Clubb, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Vernon Jackson, Sr. and Marian Donahue Jackson; her daughter, Joy Michelle Clubb; and her brothers, David Vernon Jackson, Jr. and Gary Lawrence Jackson.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, April 23, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel.
