Mr. Carlos Omar Rios
In Celebration of Carlos Omar Rios’ life...”Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” Lou Holtz

EVANS, GA. Carlos Omar Rios, 24, loving son to Carlos and Carmen Rios and brother to Kevin and Christian Rios, entered into rest Saturday, December 17, 2011 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Carlos was born on April 18, 1987 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was 3 classes shy from earning a Computational Media Degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. During his college career, he had amazing opportunities to venture into media design, web development, user interface design, in addition to marketing and advertising. These interests included working in a co-op with Georgia-Pacific’s information technology team and working closely with the Georgia Tech faculty in advertising academic and study abroad programs. In addition to these opportunities, he was also able to advance his knowledge gained from school and work through numerous media projects for small businesses, organizations, college faculty members, and collegiate programs. It was his goal to make a positive impact and contribution in the work force and most importantly, in life. Growing up as a military child, Carlos was given the chance to travel and live in different places such as Chicago, IL, New Orleans, LA, Puerto Rico, England, Key West, FL, Monterrey, CA, Spain, and Evans and Atlanta, Georgia, where he met new people and immersed himself into each unique culture, which helped him become the outstanding young man he was. Most recently, he was involved in a variety of research projects at Georgia Tech; specifically as a research assistant for Young Worker Safety and Health at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, and the Design and Intelligence Laboratory at the Georgia Tech School of Interactive Computing. He was also participating in the Space Power Grid research project as a media designer at the Georgia Tech School of Aerospace Engineering. To family and close friends, Omar will always be remembered for his energetic smile, relentless motivation, and passion for school and work. He will always live amongst us forever and ever. Other family members include: grandparents Cecy, Jose, Tomy, and Gloria; uncles Berto, Rusty, and Sammy; aunts Daly, Jenny, and Jillian; cousins Bermarie, Gina, Jillian, Papito, Joel, Nasheika, Adiary, and Crystal.
In Evans, the family will hold a Vigil commencing at 7:00 PM Monday, December 26, 2011 and will receive friends until 9:00 PM in the chapel at Platt’s Funeral Home, 377 N Belair RD, Evans GA 30809. In Augusta, a memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 2607 Lumpkin RD, Augusta, GA 30906 on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 8:00 PM.
