Billy Joe Lewis, Sr.

Billy Joe Lewis, Sr., age 84 entered into rest on Monday, April 26, 2021.

Billy was born in Evans to the late Ernest Lee Lewis and Gladys Davidson Lewis. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing while he wasn’t working as a brick mason or spending time with this family. Although he was the strong patriarch of his family, Billy loved to make them laugh and his family always knew how much he loved them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Richard Dale Lewis.

Billy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jessie Lewis; his three children, Dianne Hanley (John), Billy Lewis, Jr. (Vicki), and Susan Stewart (Rickey); his four grandchildren, Joy Stewart (Allen), John Hanley, Jr. (Jessica), Tabitha Strickland (Mark), and Jonathon Dale Lewis (Cara); three great grandchildren, Keeley Stewart, Kylee Strickland, and Penelope Lewis; and one sister, Helen Crawford.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday at Platt’s Belair Road.

A celebration of Billy’s life will take place at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 30, 2021 at West Acres Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
