Grovetown, GA – Mr. Billy Joe Davis, 62 beloved husband of Winifred Toller Davis entered into rest on Monday, January 3, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Pastor Jason Mitchem officiating. Entombment to follow in the mausoleum at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Davis was a native of Macon, GA but subsequently moved to Grovetown to call it home. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the Vietnam War from 1965-1968. Mr. Davis was also a master of the arts having attended the Norman Rockwell School of Art. He is known for his masterful works of marble statues in and around Augusta that will continue to be proof of his legacy and dedication to this community for years to come.

In addition to his loving wife of 32 years, Mr. Davis is survived by his four children, Teresa Lankford (Joseph Weathers), Diane Combe (Bobby), Joey Davis (Jennifer), and Billy Davis Rose; his three sisters, Edna Davis, Laverne McDaniel, and Patricia Hart; his five grandchildren, Kyle Lankford, Courtney Combe, Tucker Combe, Emily Davis, and Mallory Davis; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents Ober and Nellie Price Davis and by his sister, Bettie Boatright.

Beloved by his family, he had a generous heart and loving nature. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers will be Devin Mitchum, Trey Reeves, Cody Stringfield, Brad Owens, Jamie Moore, and Billy Reeves.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, January 5, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
