Mrs. Beatrice Garvin Hite
Augusta, GA – Mrs. Beatrice Garvin Hite, 96 beloved wife of the late William Hoyte Hite, entered into rest on Monday, June 13, 2011 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Dr. Al Cadenhead, Rev. Fred Gunter, and Dr. Kenneth Word officiating. Interment to follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hite was born on October 10, 1914 to Henry Aldridge Garvin and Connie Hydrick Garvin in Wagener, SC. For 65 years, Mrs. Hite was a loyal and very active member of The Hill Baptist Church. Among her many years there she served as church hostess, a member and director of the Women’s Missionary Union, and taught Sunday school, and a member of the Faith/Seekers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hite will be remembered for her lifetime of loving dedication to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many friends.
Mrs. Hite is survived by her son, William B. Hite of Augusta; her daughter, Sue Hite Bird and husband Noel of Pawleys Island, SC; her eight grandchildren, Beverly Anne Hite, Debbie Hite Gaylor and husband Joe, Pam Hite, Bryan Hite, Mark Hite and wife Leigh, Cynthia Hite Johnston and husband Chris, Chris Bird and wife Julie, and Todd Bird and wife Andrea; and by her eleven great-grandchildren, Matthew Gaylor, Nicole Wolbert, Taylor Wolbert, Brittany Gaylor, Blanding Hite, Taylor Hite, Anna Bird, Allie Bird, Slayt Bird, Whitney Johnston, and Cynthia Johnston.
Mrs. Hite was preceded in death by her son, Donald B. Hite, M.D.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Hite, Mark Hite, Matthew Gaylor, Joe Gaylor, Blanding Hite, Taylor Hite, Chris Bird, and Todd Bird.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, June 15, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
