CSM Alfred B. Shackelford (US Army Ret)

Evans – CSM Alfred B. Shackelford, US Army, Retired, went home on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from his residence. Remaining is his helpmate, Mrs. Louise Shackelford.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 10:00 AM at West Acres Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

CSM Shackelford served as an infantryman in the Korean War, and also served two tours of duty in Vietnam. During his first tour of duty in Vietnam, he served as an advisor to the Vietnamese Army in several different capacities. During his second tour, he served with the Americal Division.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Love Offering at West Acres Baptist Church, 555 Gibbs Road, Evans, Georgia, 30809 or to Odyssey Vista Hospice Foundation, 717 N. Harwood Street, Ste. 1500, Dallas, Texas, 75201.
