Woncha Song

Mrs. Woncha Song entered into rest on Wednesday, November 22 in Fairfax, Virginia.

She was the widow of Han S. Song. They were married for 52 years prior to his passing on January 17, 2010. Mrs. Song has been an Augusta native since 1974. Born in Busan, South Korea, she immigrated to Augusta 49 years ago with her husband and three beautiful daughters.

She was a successful business owner with her husband, owning multiple convenience stores in South Augusta. Mrs. Song spent her days working in the family business and taking care of her family. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Hannah and taking many walks on the beautiful downtown Augusta Riverwalk. She was kind-hearted and generous, always helping family and friends in need. Mrs. Song had a lively, vibrant personality and her laughter was contagious. Those who knew her, loved her.

She is survived by her daughters: Nanyong Lee (Terry), Miyong Song, and Vanessa Baban (Babak); her brothers: SungTae Kim (Sunja) and Sungyoung Kim (Malsoon).

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Pham (Harvey), Annie Koo (Linn), Hannah Rogers, and Paul Fujihara; her great-grandchildren: Ian and Owen Pham; Alex and David Koo.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 starting at 10:00 AM at Platt's Funeral Home in Evans, Georgia. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Platt' Funeral Home led by Reverend Gina Kim. Interment will ensue at Bellevue Memorial Gardens in Grovetown, Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Babak Baban, SungTae Kim, Sungyoung Kim, Tom Rogers and Bob Robertson.
