Monika Dent

June 5, 1936 — April 9, 2022

Mrs. Monika Alice Dent, beloved wife of Joseph T. Dent for 62 years, entered into rest on Saturday morning, April 9, 2022 at her residence.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday evening, April 15, 2022 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Benjamin Dent officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Monika was born and raised in Berlin, Germany to Alice Feschner and Oskar Pawlitzki on June 5, 1936. She is a veteran and survivor of World War II (WWII).
Monika has lived in many places in Germany, including Karlsruhe, Germany, where her children Ela and Don went to Jr High and High School. She lived in many places in the United States, including Hawaii, and has travelled to many countries around the world with her husband, Joe, during his time with the military and civil service.
Monika went to technical school for Electronics and then started her career as a Diagnostic and Repair Electrician with Telefunken in Berlin, Germany and later did the same at Grundig in Karlsruhe, Germany where she excelled and was promoted into management. When stationed in Wuerzburg, Germany Monika took the opportunity to work as an Army Emergency Relief (AER) Officer and Office Manager in which she, also, excelled at taking the time to make sure soldiers and their families were taken care of.
Monika was an avid member of the German-American Friendship Club of Augusta, GA. She had many dear friends with great relationships and enjoyed participating in the exciting events that were held with the club. This was the greatest way of celebrating her homeland (Berlin, Germany) away from home.
Monika loved beaching, travelling to exotic islands, sightseeing, collecting sea shells and stones, she loved watching and feeding hummingbirds. Also, reading fiction novels with story lines about Dukes and Earls. Her favorite flowers where hibiscus, plumeria, cassias and orange roses. Rooting and growing plants was also one of her favorite past times as she loved to watch plants start from a seed and bloom into flowers. Monika loved every second of life and a good pilsner beer along with a good cognac and a glass of champagne.
In addition to her husband, Joe, she is survived by her children, Manuela Dent Highbaugh and Don Dent (Sara Jimenez), her grandchildren, Donald Dent II, Alisa Dent (Kemar Robinson Sr.), and Bria Bankston, as well as her great grandchildren, Donald Dent III, Liyah Dent, Josiah Dent, Reileigh Dent, Peyton Dent, Carrollena Dent, Cameron Dent and Caleb Dent. She is also survived by her brother, Holger Kuske and numerous nieces and nephews.
