Coming from a tremendously talented family of singers she performed around her hometown, Central High School and local radio stations until moving to New York at 18 years old. At 23 she married her husband of 58 years, Army Veteran, Isaiah Burch, Sr. After marrying she became a full-time mother and was a very active member of Little Friendship Baptist church where she continued singing in choirs and established many lifetime friendships. Her work career has ranged from secretarial work to an Otis Elevator Operator, the United States Postal Service in Mt. Vernon, NY, to a credit analyst at Sears & Roebuck and The Bank of New York, all whilst being an attentive and loving mother and devoted wife. Her singing engagements span the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, Carnegie Hall, Cammy Hall, the Lincoln Center and many other venues and centers of worship around the country. She also made regular appearances with the famous Hawkin Singers and many other contemporary gospel groups for over 30 years to include local and national television appearances. Her desire was that her life and love of singing would glorify and lift the name of Jesus. After relocating to Augusta, GA, she continued to sing and was a devoted member of Whole Life Ministries until her passing.
She is survived by husband Isaiah, children Mary Deanna Burch (Douglas Robertson) Stamford, CT, Isaiah Burch Jr. of Marietta, GA and Shawana B. Hensley (John) of Johnston, SC., Granddaughter Destenie Hensley (U.S. Navy), her beloved Godchildren, Joshua and Danielle Dickerson, the last of her seven brothers, sisters, Mrs. Ella Mea Webb - Jackson, and several nieces and nephews.
