Madge Knight Nelson

Mrs. Madge Nelson, 82, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at her home in Augusta.

Mrs. Nelson was retired from Club Car in Augusta after a career of over thirty years with the company. She was a devoted member of Centerpoint Baptist Church where she often partnered with other members of the congregation to help serve the community. She was an avid sports fan, especially of golf, and devoted many years to coaching volleyball and softball. She especially enjoyed volunteering time for the Boys & Girls Club of Augusta. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family above all else.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Nelson, and sister Beatrice Anderson (Otey); sons Robert Knight Jr. (Susan), Christopher Knight (Laura), David Nelson (Monica), and Robert Nelson (Tanya, Stephanie); grandchildren Kyle Knight (Brinne), Ashlyn Knight (Greg), Johnothan Knight, Robert Knight, Linnea Nelson, Charlie Jung, and Julia Volmer, as well as one great-granddaughter Braelyn Stewart; others include many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Knight Sr., and one son, Kenneth Knight.

A visitation for friends will be held at Platt’s Funeral Home at 721 Crawford Ave. between 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, August 4th. A funeral service will be held the following day, August 5th, in the chapel of Platt’s at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery following the service.

The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
