Laura A Rizzo

Laura A. Rizzo, 75, of Grovetown, GA, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Laura was born on March 3, 1946, to Biagio and Angela (Falzone) Prevete in Brooklyn, NY. She was the older sister and best friend of Maria
Pravato.

Laura graduated from McArthur High School and went on to become a teacher. She loved children and providing the gift of education and was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years. She was nominated for countless awards throughout her time as an educator, including Teacher of the Year.

She married the love of her life, Thomas P. Rizzo, on August 10, 1968. Many close to them admired their commitment, not only to each other, but also to their catholic faith.

Laura believed that the way to someone’s heart was through their stomach and could often be found whipping up a new batch of her famous gravy or cream puffs in the kitchen. She was a loving and selfless person, truly one of a kind, and those who had the honor of knowing her can attest to the fact that she never missed a chance to tell someone just how much they meant to her. She was a lover of animals and always took hers with her for her many trips and adventures. She enjoyed spending her time out of the house with family and friends, especially at Disney, and also enjoyed her time alone by watching her favorite mystery/crime television shows.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents Biagio and Angela, her husband Thomas, and her daughter Jenni.

Laura is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Maria and Joseph, son Salvatore, grandchildren: Gregory, Sierra, Jordan, Logan, and Jarod, her great-grandchildren: Elyse, Alannah, Blaise, Creed, and Wyatt, and numerous close relatives: James, Lisa, Phyllis, Larry, Samantha, Dereck, Chaz, Nicky, Matt, Dylan, Angela, Josh, Jay, Meghan, Josh, Dennis, Lindsey, Ava, Killian, Atticus, Brady, Amelia, and many close friends whom she held very close to her heart.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Laura’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
