Johnie Albert Maxwell

January 24, 1948 — December 3, 2023

Johnie Albert Maxwell, 75, of Martinez, husband of Irmgard Moehler Maxwell, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, in Wadley. He was born on January 24, 1948, in Sandersville to the late George Maxwell and Jennie Gollar Maxwell.


A 1968 graduate from TJ Elder High School, he started his career as a lineman for the US Army. Mr. Maxwell was a veteran of the Army serving during the Vietnam and Korea War. He was a proud supporter of the Atlanta Falcons. Mr. Maxwell enjoyed video games and fishing.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Ada Maxwell and Pearl Maxwell and brother, Willie George Maxwell, Jr.


He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Irmgard; two sons, Johnie Maxwell, Jr. of Augusta and Philip L. Maxwell (Victoria) of Martinez; three daughters, Rodah Gause (Mark) of Atlanta, Erica Maxwell of Atlanta, and Jennie A. Maxwell; a granddaughter, Gabriella Audrey Maxwell, numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.


The family of Mr. Maxwell wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Nurses and Staff at Comfort Creek Nursing Home.


Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on December 7, 2023, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with military honors. Platt’s Funeral Home is assisting the Maxwell family.
