Jason Evan Capito

Jason Evan Capito passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, peacefully at home.

Jason was born in Madrid, Spain on July 24, 1979. He spent his youth growing up in Long Beach, CA, Charlotte, NC, and Martinez, GA. He attended Lakeside High School and graduated from Augusta University with a business degree. He played soccer for Lakeside High, the Augusta Gunners, and North Augusta Athletics.

A man of many talents and disciplines, Jason spent twelve years in the culinary business after college. A creative chef, intrigued by blending chemistry and gastronomy, he worked in high end restaurants in Augusta and Vail, Colorado. As his interest in science grew, he chose to go back to college to explore a path to medicine. During that time, he managed the chemistry lab at Augusta University, assisting with the publication of two research papers, and was ultimately rewarded for these efforts with “The Best Research in Chemistry Award”. A difficult decision in the end, Jason opted to pivot from chemistry research and instead use his natural skills in woodworking to start a business as a craftsman and home remodeler. His creativity, attention to detail, and professionalism provided him with a thriving business. Apart from remodeling bathrooms, offices, and decks, he would claim his most rewarding work was helping his brother build the perfect tree house for his beloved niece, Margot. Truly a renaissance man, he took interest in and accomplished so much in his time.

Jason is survived by his loving wife Jenn, parents David and Peggy, brother Nicholas, sister-in-law Marie, niece, Margot, his brother-in-law, Justin Miller, Justin’s wife Debbie, nephews, Mason and Levi Miller, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his little furry four-legged son, Benny.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CSRA Humane Society, PO BOX 204120, Augusta, GA 30917. 

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 PM on Friday, March 15, 2024, in the chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road with Pastor Forrest Page officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until the time of service.
