Jack Franklin Murphy, Sr.

Jack Franklin Murphy, 91, entered into rest on January 14, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Cornerstone Assembly of God with Pastors Philip and Baxter Stanley officiating.

Mr. Murphy was born in Bath, SC to the late Herbert and Ethel Murphy. He graduated from the Academy of Richmond County. He lived in Augusta most of his life except when he lived in Sandersville because of a job. Mr. Murphy worked for many years as a preconstruction engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation and retired as the Public Works Director for Augusta Georgia. He loved fishing and collecting coins, airplanes, books and antiques.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his beloved fiance’ Jacquelyn Barnes; his children, Colleen Miller (Howard), Jack Murphy, Jr. (Susan) and Beverly Harrington (Jim); his many grand and great-grand children; his ex-wife, Beverly Ann Murphy; and by his fur baby Ziva. He also leaves behind many friends including his best friend, Robert Clements; and special close friends, Carol and Tim Hook and Ceaira, Jose Ortiz, Virginia and Donnie Beasley; as well as Lydia, Robert and Bethany Stanley and Sylvester. In addition to his parents, Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Dunaway Murphy; and his siblings, H.H. “Mutt” Murphy and Frances Murphy.

The family would like to recognize Dr. Anthony Smith, special friend and doctor Dr. Russell Stephens and the many great doctors for their loving care that they gave to Mr. Murphy.
