Dr. Dirk Peter Motzkus

Dirk Peter Motzkus, 67, of Baltimore City, Maryland, passed away on October 16, 2022, in Martinez, Georgia.

Dirk was born in Baltimore City to Horst and Gerda Motzkus on November 29, 1954. He graduated from Mt. Hebron High School in 1972. He then graduated from University of Maryland in 1976. He continued his education at the University of Georgia and completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. He married Sylvia Thompson on September 21, 1985 in Augusta, Georgia.

Dirk worked as a veterinarian at Aidmore Animal Clinic for four years. In 1987, Dirk started his own practice in Grovetown called Grovetown Animal Clinic. He continued working there until his death.

Dirk was involved in GCVMA and the Augusta Humane Society.

Dirk is preceded in death by his parents, Horst and Gerda Motzkus.

Dirk is survived by his wife Sylvia Motzkus, his children, Christine Motzkus, Andrew Motzkus (Jennifer), Valerie Motzkus and two grandchildren, Harper and Liam Motzkus. He is also survived by his sister Heidi Richardson (Stuart), nephews and nieces, Julia Kasukusa (Vundukai), Brad Richardson (Heather), Emily Richardson, and grand nieces Nokuthula, Nakai and Maita Kasukusa.

The Motzkus family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to friends, coworkers, and neighbors for their assistance in this trying time.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm October 27 at Platt's Funeral Home, 337 North Belair rd., Evans, Georgia.
