Doris "Dot" Almand Jones

Doris (Dot) Almand Jones 93 of Rocky Creek Road entered into rest on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William H. Jones and parents, Sam and Thelmer Almand.
Survivors are: Daughter, Terry Jones Hendrick. Three grandchildren, John W. Herring, Robert L. Hendrick and Tara Hendrick Barrs all of Augusta, GA. Sister, Peggy A. Couch, Atlanta, GA. Sister in law, Myrtle A. Copeland, Greshamville, GA. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Richmond County, September 20, 1928. All of her life was spent in Augusta, GA.
Attended Houghton and Monte Sano Elementary Schools and graduated from Tubman High School for Girls in 1945. Completed Augusta Business School courses, before beginning a career in banking. After 38 years, retired as Assistant Vice-President and Training Officer of Bankers First, Formerly First Federal Savings and Loan Association. She participated in and taught classes for the American Institute of Banking. Served as Vice President of the American Business Women’s Association.
An organizer and charter member of the Tubman High School Alumnae Association, serving as an officer and on the board of directors.
An active member of Lake Park Baptist Church. Taught the Willing Workers Ladies Sunday School Class. Served as an officer in the “Young at Heart” senior’s club of Lake Park Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 11-1 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road.
Pallbearers will be Willing Workers Class to serve as Honorary, Larry Royal, Dwayne McIntosh, Tommy Mansfield, Steve Dent, Don Wyatt, Larry Hall, Bill Barrow, and David Miles.
