Donita Darlene Walden

Donita Darlene Walden, 83, of Augusta, GA, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 in Augusta, GA.

Donita was born in Canon City to Raymond Wade Sample & Nena Darlene Sample on July 23, 1939. She went to school at Centennial High School in Pueblo, CO. She married Samuel F Walden, Sr. on February 14, 1958 in Pueblo, CO. She attended Pueblo Community College.

She worked as an administrative assistant for civilian and military services for twenty-five years, and as a substitute teacher for Evans High School four years.

She was a member of The First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed singing, teaching, square-dancing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Donita is preceded in death by her husband Sam, her first-born grandson, Joseph Thomas Walden, her sister Charlotte Rae Forrester, and her parents Ray & Nena Sample.

Donita is survived by daughters Donna Darlene Conrad and Sandra Rene Williams McKie (David), and her sons Samuel Frank Walden, Jr. (Caroline) and David Eugene Walden; sister Carol Jean Huff (James) and brother Danny Joe Sample (Maryann-deceased); her grandchildren Zachary Ryan Walden, Samuel Austin Walden, David Matthew Walden (Amanda), Sharon Walden-Lamb, Ashley Mclaurin Canipe (Ryan), Devin Hunter Williams, Anslee Rene Williams, Asher Daniel McKie, Kayl Rowen McKie, and great-granddaughter Mckinzie Lamb; several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to The First Church of the Nazarene.

The family of Donita wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Doctor’s Hospital, Enhabit Hospice, and Regency Hospice.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm Tuesday July 18th, 2023 at Platt’s Funeral Home at 377 North Belair Road in Evans, GA 30809.

Memorial services immediately follow from 2:00-3:00 pm Tuesday July 18th, 2023 at Platt’s Funeral Home at 377 North Belair Road in Evans, GA 30809 with Pastor Joseph Lennon and Pastor James Jividen of The First Church of The Nazarene. Arrangements are by Platt’s Funeral Home.
