David F. Dukes

January 13, 1953 — November 30, 2021

David 68, beloved husband of Pamela Agner Dukes passed away peacefully on November 30th after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the church narthex from 10:00 AM until service time.

David, an Augusta native, was the only son of Oscar S Dukes and Dorothy Freeman Dukes. He graduated from Richmond Academy followed by the University of Georgia, where he was a proud member of the CHI PSI fraternity. He never wavered in his love for UGA and engrained this love with his family. Saturdays in Athens became a constant for the Dukes household. He spent his professional life in the access control and fence industry. After retiring he found joy in bike riding, kayaking, disc golf and became an active member of the Greater North Augusta Table Tennis Society. During his time with the GNATTS he became part of the Dukes’May-O dream team and won first place in the summer league 2 man team.

In life he enjoyed the simple pleasures of friends and family to which he was endlessly devoted. Most of all he truly cherished his wife who brought him pure joy. He was always the champion for his children and later his grandchildren and supported all of their endeavors.
David was a jack of all trades and a constant optimist always trying to seek the silver lining in a cloud. He will be dearly missed by all who were touched by him.

David is survived by his wife Pamela Agner Dukes, his daughter, Blake Taylor (Nathan), his son Zachary Dukes (Katelin) and two grandchildren, Ella Reed and Rylan Taylor. His cousins who are truly his siblings, Glenn Hester, Beannie Foulke, Joy Buckingham (Marty), Greg Hester and many other beloved cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his uncle and aunt, Bert and Joyce Hester, his uncle and aunt, Roy and Bonita Hensley, and his beloved cousins/sisters Julie Hester and Janet Hester.
