David Allan Dorrance

We are saddened to announce the passing of David Dorrance, 53 - beloved husband, son, brother, and friend who died on Sunday, April 21 at his home in Blythe, Georgia. David grew up at Lake Silkworth and graduated from Lake Lehman High School in 1989.

It's a difficult task to capture the essence of David in words, and if you knew him, I'm sure you could picture his smile and hear his laugh. With his quick-witted sarcasm, he sure could put a smile on your face. Besides his humor, he was truly kindhearted and would always be there to help someone in need.

At a young age, David displayed a curiosity of how things worked. He would take apart radios and put them back together and fixed cars in his teen years. These natural talents lead him to become a skilled craftsman and mechanic. David was always working on projects - from laying floors, fixing electrical, tiling a backsplash to helping others with their projects.

Before moving to Georgia, he lived with his wife and best friends, his cherished dogs, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Speaking of dogs, David was never without a furry companion. You could say he was a "dog whisperer." All canines were instantly attracted to him. At one time, David had four dogs, all whom vied for his attention and loved him. His current dogs, Nugget and Lucy along with Butch the barn cat which he found on his property and adopted, will all miss him tremendously.

While living in Texas, he worked as a CDL driver for YRC Freight and traveled around the country. David and his wife Debra developed a pastime of traveling in an RV. After purchasing one, David put his talents to work renovating the inside. Along the way, he would share updates - before and after videos showcasing his talents. We were always amazed by his skill and abilities. He attended the National RV Training Academy in 2021 and received his certification to start his own business as an RV technician. In Georgia, David was recently employed by Augusta RV.

David is survived by his wife, Debra of 23 years, stepchildren and grandchildren, mom, Patricia Dorrance, sisters Denise Tranell and Linda Melski, and loving nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed. A private memorial will be held at a future date.
