Charles William Herring, Sr.

Charles William Herring, Sr., 84, of Martinez, GA went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2024 with his loving family by his side.

Charles was born in Norfolk, VA to Arthur and Charlibel Herring on January 6, 1940. Always a hard-working and patriotic man, he served over 24 years in the United States Army and continued working at the VA as medical maintenance after his retirement.

He loved his Lord and his family. Charles served as a Deacon at various churches throughout the years. He received Deacon Emeritus from Woodlawn Baptist Church after 15 years of dedicated service.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty Jean Herring; children, Teresa (Larry) Roberts, Charles William Herring, Jr (predeceased), Melissa (Mike) Rodman, Dennis (Brandi) Herring; grandchildren, Claire (Kyle) Muhle, Ashley (Eric) Bailey, Lily (Craig) Ackman, Gray Rodman, Conor (Pika) Rodman, Lauren (Dusty) Moseley, Nolan Herring, Erin Pilgrim, Ryan (Matt) Davis, Tate Herring; great-grandchildren, Nolan Muhle, Gage Bailey, Charlie Bailey, Layla Bailey, Asher Rodman, Emma Moseley, Sadie Davis and Sailor Davis.

Memorial service will be held 10am on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Platt’s Funeral Home 337 N. Bel Air. Rd. Evans, GA 30809 with Pastor Floyd Harrison of Woodlawn Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be immediately following.
