Charles Edward Brown

Mr. Charles Edward Brown, beloved husband of 51 years, of the late Mary Evelyn Brown, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. The family will receive friends at the church between 12:00 and 2:00, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

He called Wesley United Methodist his church home and loved his church family.

Mr. Brown was a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a graduate of City High School, joined the Army and served two years during the Korean War, before finishing his enlistment with the Army Reserves. He continued his schooling by earning an Associate’s Degree at Edmonds Business College.

He was a founder and former Partner of Industrial Rubber Products in Chattanooga before moving to Augusta in 1986 as owner of Industrial Rubber and Safety Southeast. After retirement in 1997 he, along with his wife, owned and operated three Red Wing shoe franchises in the CSRA. Throughout his life, he kept a love for learning and discovery, and even after retirement, still enjoyed talking about business. Music, collecting art, photography, gardening, bird watching, the Masters, and Georgia Football were some of his passions. He also enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Longboat Key, Florida and the company of his many pets over the years. His family will remember him as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.

He is survived by his children; Charles M. Brown (Delaine), Darlene Scales (Gordan Alan “Ted”) and Denise Norton (Stan), his brother, Robert Brown, his grandchildren; Ashley Cook (Robbie), Dr. Charles A. Brown, Lindsey Rae Norton, Mack Norton and Samuel Douglas Scales (Miranda), as well as his great grandchildren; Nicholas Cook, Sawyer Scales, Amelia Scales and Grayson Luke Scales.
