Barbara Jane Jones

Barbara Jane Stump Jones, 78, of Grovetown, GA went to her Heavenly home on July 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Jane was born in Augusta, GA to Carl and Nellie Stump on April 28, 1945. She attended school in Lincolnton, GA and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree of Nursing in 1967. She married Raymond H. Jones on July 12, 1970, in a small ceremony in Lincolnton, GA. Jane worked as a patient advocate for Medical College Hospital for 2 years, until the birth of her daughter. She went on to help establish the Able Disabled Organization of Augusta. She also served and was active with the Easter Seals and Volunteers in Service to America. Jane was a faithful member of Grove First Baptist Church in Grovetown and taught the Young at Heart Sunday School Class for many of years. She also looked forward to Tuesdays where she met other ladies of the church for Bible Study and Crochet.

Jane is preceded in death by her Parents Carl and Nellie Stump and sister Jeannie S. Burris Jane is survived by her husband, Raymond H. Jones, Grovetown, Daughter, Elizabeth Anne Jones Reynolds, Augusta, Grandson Randall Devon Cliett, Irmo, SC, sister, Susan Joyce Stump Greene, Evans, brother Jimmy Carl Stump, Evans, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Adkins, Mike Smith, Henry Inglett, Robert Lazar, Chad Jones, and Scott Burden. Honorary pallbearers are the Young at Heart Sunday School Class of Grove First Baptist.

Memorials may be given to Grove First Baptist Church and The American Cancer Society.

Jane’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of Augusta University for their care and kindness.

Visitation will be Friday, July 21. 2023 at 10:00 am at Grove First Baptist Church of Grovetown Georgia. Funeral services will be held at noon the same day with Dr. Randall Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
