Allan Weiser

June 13, 1944 — May 5, 2023

In his 78 years on this Earth, Allan Weiser was many things…curious, empathetic, quick to laugh, and well-loved by his family and friends . He died peacefully on May 5, 2023 at home.

Born June 13, 1944 to Sonia and Sidney Weiser, Allan met his one-and-only, Katherine (Katie) Wade, at a movie theater at Ft. Richardson, Alaska where Allan and Katie's father were stationed in the U.S. Army. Allan pursued Katie but she was a senior in high school and too young to marry and was soon to enter college. His persuasion and their love won in the end. They married in August 1967 and stayed devoted for 55 years.

Allan graduated with a Bachelor of Business from Baruch College of the City University of New York and a Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in Queens, New York.

He was a New York Attorney for over 30 years and then became a Real Estate Broker with Keller Williams Realty upon relocating to Augusta, GA. He enjoyed working with people and helping them make decisions. During his retirement he loved traveling the world with Katie and visiting with his family.

Allan was beloved by all that knew him. He had a way of looking at you; making real eye contact, listening to you. He made you feel you were the most fascinating person he’d ever met. And in that moment, you were. He loved people. He loved trying to discern what made them tick.

Allan is survived by his wife, Katie, his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Kevin Crean, his sister-in-law and brother-in law, Tina and Randy Craig, five nephews and their wives: Alex and Jill Crean, Andy and Macall Crean, Jim and Toni Craig, Bradley and Kerri Craig, and Zachary Craig, and his great-nephews Carter and Miles Crean and Blake, Troy, and Karsen Craig and great-niece Kaelie Craig.

Despite a love of flower gardens, cut flowers were not Allan’s favorite. And so, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in his name to one of his favorite institutions - the Metropolitan Opera. Allan listened to opera daily. He loved attending Met live performances when he lived in New York and always attended the latest Met in HD performances at local movie theaters.

A private viewing for family and friends will be held at Platt’s Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road, Evans, GA 30809 on Sunday May 7 from 10 am to 12:00 noon.
