Alice R. Kidd

Evans, GA. - Mrs. Alice Ruzicka Kidd, 68, of Evans, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008, at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
She was born on February 7, 1939 at the family farm located south of Stratton, Nebraska to the late Adolph and Mary (Michalicka) Ruzicka. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in Omaha NE, Denver CO and Lexington KY and retired from the Augusta VA Medical Center Spinal Cord Injury Unit where she worked from 1982 through 1999. She met Roger Allen Kidd of Trace Branch, KY while in Denver and they were married on August 22, 1964. Subsequently, they had three children. The family lived overseas in Okinawa, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and Hawaii as a result of Roger's civil service career eventually settling down in Augusta, Georgia. Roger preceded her in death on May 26, 2002.
Alice especially enjoyed painting, gardening, working with her husband on wood carving projects, helping animals of all kinds and reading to her grandchildren.
She is survived by one brother, Albin Ruzicka of Stratton NE and one sister, Margaret Sughroue of Omaha, NE; one son, Jeffrey Allen Kidd of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Julie Keller of Sharpsburg, GA and Jean Nistler of Irmo, SC; a nephew, Michael Louis Grant of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Amanda, Katherine Keller and Gary Allen, Jason Roger Nistler.
The family will receive friends at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road on Friday January 11, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The family will also receive friends at The Church of the Most Holy Trinity located at 8th and Telfair St. on Saturday, January 12, 2008 where the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am with The Reverend Michael Lubinsky as celebrant. The family visitation with friends will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon in the St. Francis Hall, at the church.
Interment will be at Westover Memorial Park in a private service following the fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, F-104, Augusta, GA 30904.
