Alice Haskell Sanders

Alice Haskell Sanders, 82, died peacefully in her home in Beech Island, SC, on June 25, 2022.

The graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m., July 9, 2022 at Hammond Cemetery in Beech Island with the Rev. Dr. Eric Biddy officiating.

Alice was born in Augusta, GA and lived most of her life in the family home in Beech Island. She attended North Augusta High School and Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. After marrying Conrad Wienges Sanders, Jr and living briefly in Charleston, SC, they moved to Alice’s family home in Beech Island to raise their family. Alice was dedicated to her family and her community. Affectionately known as Bunny, she loved hosting gatherings at home for family, relatives and friends – holiday dinners, reunions, and wedding celebrations. She gave many years of volunteer service: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (Vestry Member and Cookbook Committee), the Junior League of Augusta, Augusta Symphony Guild (Past President 1983-84), Mount Vernon College (Board of Trustees Member), Town and Country Garden Club, Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, National Society of Colonial Dames of America.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Cheves Haskell Jr and Ann Lewis Willis Haskell, and by her husband. Survivors include her children, Ann Sanders Jennings (Horace), Asheville, Conrad Wienges Sanders III, Beech Island, and Catherine Coatsworth Sanders, North Augusta; her sister Ann Willis Haskell, Charleston, and half-brother Alexander Cheves Haskell III (Joyce), Belvedere; her five grandchildren, Catherine Jennings Quinn, Conrad Wienges Sanders IV, Matthew LaRoche Sanders, Julian Beverly Jenkins Jr, Ann Davies Jenkins; great-grandson Warner Nash Jenkins; and nephews, nieces, and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the organization of your choice or to Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or your local chapter of Alzheimer’s Association.
