Platt's Funeral Home has offered premiere funeral service to the Augusta area from our location on Crawford Avenue since 1929. As Columbia County grew and expanded, Platt's opened a second location on Belair Road, in the heart of Evans to better serve the needs of this community and the surrounding area. In 1993 the doors opened on a magnificent facility, bringing with it the experienceof the oldest funeral business in the state of Georgia, serving the public since 1837. Now in 2008 we have added on an onsite crematory in order to better serve our families desiring cremation.
Two generations of Platts' and three generations of Curtis' have guided this family owned business with the highest level of commitment and caring to those who seek our guidance at the time of a death. Kitty and Corinne are the present owners, striving to carry on the tradition.
We at Platt's like to think of ourselves as lifting people up and carrying them through one of the most difficult times in their lives. As there are said to be 125 decisions to be made at the time of a death, a good funeral director is the key. "We want our families to think of a funeral service not only as a time to grieve but a time to celebrate a life well lived. We must cherish the memories of that life for only they remain with us," said Kitty.
Platt's is the only funeral home in this area providing ongoing grief support groups for anyone in the community at no charge. The Rev. Andrew Menger, a certified bereavement facilitator, is
our director.
"It is important to us that people know we are here for them beyond the day of the funeral.
We will support them as long as they need our help," said Corinne.
