Aftercare & Grief Support
People in our community have come to know Platt’s Funeral Home for our caring professionals and for our quality and value in funeral services. As a family-owned and operated company, we have always strived to help families in any way they need us. That means our help and support continue even after the funeral, cemetery or memorial service ends through our Aftercare and Grief Support Services.

We know from experience, surviving family members deal with a variety of issues and concerns after the death of a loved one. At the same time they are grieving their loss taking care of personal and financial affairs can be overwhelming.

Family Aftercare Services Director, Dr J. Andrew Menger, follows up with family members we serve as they begin to work through their grief and sort through the maze of paperwork. He offers practical and emotional help, connecting people with additional community resources as they continue on with their changing life.

As a native and long time resident of Augusta, Andy has served area families both as a Minister and as an Aftercare Coordinator. His compassion for the grieving enables him to authentically reach out in service to others.
The weeks and months following a family member’s death are difficult. Our Family Grief Support and Community Services Director provides individual grief support and coordinates our grief support groups. Andy also works in area schools with students and staff, with church and community groups – whenever a loss has occurred or to help explain the feeling of grief and loss.

Dr. Menger has much loss in his own life and is very sensitive to others. He is a highly skilled and has received extensive training in counseling and support group coordination. Andy has been a school teacher and pastor in four churches. He has also worked as a clinical therapist and chaplain. The groups he leads are open to all who grieve.

For those who seek healing and growth through the grief process, Dr Menger welcomes you.
